Group Info

This group celebrates the fact that pale skin is nothing to be ashamed of. It is beautiful, and we know it! We celebrate gorgeous, pale models and their photographers by adding the best of DeviantArt to our group, firmly refuting the idea that skin must be tan to be beautiful. Pale is beautiful too! :)

Our only rules are that we do not accept overtly sexual work, too many works that are nearly identical (such as a long series of photos), and conflict between members will not be tolerated. Otherwise, we will accept any photos, drawings or other artistic representation of pale people, men or women, or even literature celebrating it. Thank you for participating in this group and sharing my passion for celebrating the beauty of pale. :)

Hi ; thank you for the request but I'll decline. I find the idea behind this group racist and I personnally don't want to feed a group that puts forward pictures based on skin color.

Racist? I have many non-white people's photos in this group. It has nothing to do with race. I also don't add photos of particularly dark-skinned white people to this group because it goes against the premise of the group, which is to contradict the popular stigma against light-colored skin and to celebrate it, in all races. In my personal favorites I have many favorited pictures of dark-skinned women too. I don't appreciate being called racist, so please feel free to decline my request.

Where I live the stigma is much stronger against dark skin than light skin, but it is not the same everywhere. I am therefore not attacking you, but saying I disagree with the premise of the group, because it stigmatises people based on their skin color (no matter which). A model with dark skin cannot find exposure in your group, no matter the quality of the work. It isn't fair, and I know some people are very hurt by this discrimination ("I don't have access to X because of what I look like"). It is okay to limit access to a group (obviously if everything was accepted the group would have no point at all!), but I personnally prefer when the limit is based on technical quality, a neutral theme (nature - portraits - architecture - etc) or a medium (traditional art - photography - etc). A photograph isn't going to feel hurt not to be accepted in a traditional art group - it's not his/her thing. But models should in my opinion all be on an equal ground.

I just thought I'd explain my thought a little better, and I hope it helps you understand my position, but obviously deviantart allows you to do whatever group you choose.

Thank you for explaining your position; I understand where you're coming from, though I personally disagree with you. If my group was the only one on DA, I would say you're right. But any type of model and any type of art can find a group here. I am not saying any skin color is bad, or that one is better than another. That is racism. I am simply expressing my personal enjoyment and preference of light-colored skin - from any race - and trying to alleviate the stigma against pale skin in my own culture. In the US, dark skin is highly preferred, which is itself a prejudicial stigma I'm trying to correct. You are the only person who has ever told me they found my group racist or prejudiced, and you are not dark skinned. Any model who is dark skinned can get their photos in a hundred groups on here if they wish. I am not saying anything against any particular race or skin color; nor do I accept all photos of light-skinned people. They must meet my own standards and preferences of art and beauty. I don't see that as unfair; it is just a group with a specific purpose.
